El Sendero Backcountry Ski and Snowshoe Club is a 501(c)4 non-profit founded in 2004 and based out of Wenatchee, Washington. We work to create, preserve, or manage areas of public land for quiet, non-motorized winter recreation. We also work to promote winter backcountry safety and ethics and to cooperatively resolve conflicts among backcountry users. El Sendero (which means ‘the path’ in Spanish) is a member of the national non-profit Winter Wildlands Alliance (WWA).
In simpler terms, we are backcountry skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, cross-country skiers, and winter walkers. We educate ourselves and the public about issues affecting the backcountry, we attend public meetings to represent non-motorized interests, and we network with other organizations in North Central Washington (NCW) to achieve common goals.
